Area Guide to Erith

Erith is located in South East London in the Borough of Bexley on the South Bank of the river Thames.

Erith has some of the lowest property prices in London which is, probably, due largely to the remote location on the very edge of the city.

Until the 1850’s Erith was a small riverside port that became much larger when King Henry VIII decided to open a naval dockyard there. In 1515 the Kings famous warship, Henri Grace a Dieu was built there.

The decline in industry has seen the area underdo a large amount of regeneration including a large number of riverside apartments, town houses and maisonettes.
